Concerts

HUMAZAPAS presents extensive artistic material in which our musicians, dancers, and visual elements showcase their talent. We present the traditional rhythms of northern Ecuador, accompanied by dances that demonstrate the cultural richness of our nation.

We perform the following traditional rhythms:

  • Chimbapura (pareja)
  • Jalima
  • San Juanito
  • Walin walin
  • San Juanito
  • Yumbo
  • Abago (ATZILIS)
  • Wawa wañuy

Sensory Concerts

We present concerts of the music of the Kichwa communities of Imbabura, music that is born and develops around the cultivating of one of the most important grains for the continuity of life: corn.

This is a sensory concert. This living work provides participants with a unique experience, that of listening, dancing, feeling, and being within and in the midst of an ancestral ritual, through different interactive experiences and different perspectives (general, immersed, and deep).

The entire concert is experienced by the participants with blindfolds. Concertgoers need to be blindfolded and sit or lie down in comfortable positions to enjoy the concert.

This type of concert may be performed in any space that is quiet. It does not need sound equipment, and during the concert, attendees can enjoy sensations with their hands and feet, smells, and tastes - by consuming certain types of food and drinks.

Workshops and Master Classes

The Kichwa music of the Andes of Ecuador

  • We describe and interpret the Kichwa music of the Andes mountains. This class is accompanied by the construction of traditional silbatos (simple wind instruments made from reeds).
  • Aimed at all audiences.
  • Approximate duration: 2 hours.

Kichwa dance

  • This workshop takes place in two parts. In the first, theoretical section, we discuss the cosmovision of the peoples of the Andes. In the second section, we engage the participants in learning and doing some of the traditional dances that are performed during traditional Andean community celebrations.
  • Aimed at all audiences.
  • Approximate duration: 2 hours.

Contemporary Kichwa music composition

  • We delve into the creative process in the composition of contemporary Kichwa music. Compositional techniques based on respect for the ritual music of the Andes will be discussed.

Especially for Musicians

The Anta community recording label
